Verde Mix-Use Complex
Studio Gang

Studio Gang

Project:Verde mixed-use tower

Team:Studio Gang

Size:287000 ft²

Location:San Francisco, USA

Feature:

Project - Studio Gang's Verde tower stands as a striking addition to San Francisco's evolving Mission Rock neighborhood, seamlessly blending innovative architecture with sustainable design principles. This 23-story mixed-use marvel, conceived by the renowned Jeanne Gang, redefines urban living by creating a harmonious connection between residents, nature, and the city's iconic waterfront.

Verde's most distinctive feature is its sculpted façade, adorned with emerald-colored glazed ceramic cladding that shimmers in the Bay Area's unique light. The tower's form is artfully carved to create a series of cascading terraces, offering residents breathtaking views while maximizing sunlight and wind protection. This "community topography" begins at the building's base with a mesa-like space and continues upwards, fostering a sense of connection throughout the structure.

The design prioritizes sustainability and resilience, incorporating graywater reuse systems, native plantings to support urban biodiversity, and an elevated foundation to combat rising sea levels. With 254 residential units, including 59 below-market-rate homes, Verde addresses San Francisco's pressing housing needs while providing a luxurious living experience complete with amenities like a rooftop garden and fitness center.

As the centerpiece of Mission Rock's first phase, Verde exemplifies Studio Gang's holistic approach to urban development, seamlessly integrating with the surrounding buildings to create a vibrant, cohesive neighborhood that celebrates San Francisco's indoor-outdoor lifestyle and sets a new standard for sustainable urban living.
